Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the top. Don’t stir.
Layer the pats of butter across the surface. Try to cover most of the cake mix.
Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
Let it cool for 10–15 minutes before serving. Optional: top with more caramel or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
