Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 lbs boneless chicken thighs or beef strips
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic
  • 1/2 tablespoon minced fresh ginger (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons cold water
  • Vegetable oil for pan frying
  • Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Whisk honey, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger in a bowl to make the sauce.
  2. Mix cornstarch and cold water in a small cup and set aside.
  3. Heat a large pan over medium-high heat. Add oil and brown the meat in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  4. Return all meat to the pan. Pour in the sauce and bring to a simmer.
  5. Add cornstarch slurry to the sauce and stir until thickened—this should take a minute or two.
  6. Cook 2-3 more minutes, then remove from heat.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if you’re feeling fancy.
  8. Serve over rice, noodles, or veggies and enjoy!
